Understanding the Psychological Impact of Agricultural Crime

    Abstract

Innovative research addressing the impact of agricultural crime on the mental health and wellbeing of farmers in the UK

    Description

A range of research has been undertaken in the UK and internationally assessing stress factors that affect the mental health and wellbeing of the farming community. None to date have explored the role of agricultural crime on the psychological health of farmers, and how this factor may interract with other, more researched factors that affect both the mental health, but also the physical health of the farming community. This initial exploratory survey has looked at these issues, in an attempt to provide a baseline understanding of how crime impacts the farming community in Britain. Once complete, it is hoped that some international comparatives can be conducted to establish how farmers across various countries, cultures, and farming systems are affected by agricultural crime.
